Easy Textured Vest !


With simple shaping and sleeveless construction, this flattering, easy-to-make vest is a great starter pattern for those new to crocheting garments.
FINISHED SIZES: Instructions given fit size small; changes for medium, large, X-large, 2X-large and 3X-large are in [ ].
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Bust: 34 inches (small) [38 inches (medium), 42 inches (large), 46 inches (X-large), 50 inches (2X-large), 54 inches (3X-large)]
Length: 211/4 inches for all sizes
MATERIALS: Classic Elite Provence light (light worsted) weight Egyptian cotton yarn (13/4 oz/102 yds/50g per hank): 6 [6, 7, 8, 9, 10] hanks #5847 delft blue
Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
Tapestry needle
1/2-inch button
GAUGE: 14 sts = 4 inches; 9 rows = 4 inches
Take time to check gauge.
PATTERN NOTES
Chain-4 at beginning of row counts as first double treble crochet unless otherwise stated.
Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

Back
Row 1: Ch 64 [70, 76, 82, 88, 94], sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (63 [69, 75, 81, 87, 93] sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Row 4: Ch 4 (see Pattern Notes), dtr (see Stitch Guide) in each st across, turn.
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, ending with last sc in turning ch, turn.
Row 6: Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch-1), sk next st, dc in next st, [ch 1, sk next st, dc in next st] across, turn.
Row 7: Ch 1, sc in each st and in each ch sp across, turn. (63 [69, 75, 81, 87, 93] sc)

Rows 2-16: Work in established pattern, ending with row 7.
First Shoulder Shaping
Row 1: Ch 4, dtr in each of first 14 sts for all sizes, leaving rem sts unworked, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Fasten off.
2nd Shoulder Shaping
Row 1: Sk next 20 [22, 24, 26, 28, 30] sts that were left unworked on row 1 of First Shoulder Shaping, join (see Pattern Notes) in next st, ch 4, dtr in each st across, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Fasten off.
First Front
Row 1: Ch 32 [38, 44, 50, 56, 62], sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (31 [37, 43, 49, 55, 61] sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Row 4: Ch 4, dtr in each st across, turn.

Finishing
Sew shoulder seams of Fronts to Back. Sew side seams.
Edging
With RS facing, join with sc in center st at neck edge on Back, evenly sp sc around, join in beg sc. Fasten off.
Edging on each armhole.
Sew button to row 12 on Front.
Use sp between sts as buttonhole.
